Michael, also called Saint Michael the Archangel and Archangel Michael. He is an Archangel in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
His name means "Who is like God?" and he is often referred to as the "Prince of the Heavenly Host" and the "Defender of the Faith." Saint Michael is often depicted as a warrior with a sword and shield, standing over a dragon or a serpent, which symbolizes his victory over evil and his role as a protector of God's people. He is viewed as the angelic model for the virtues of the "spiritual warrior," who guards against evil. He is mentioned in Revelation 12:7–12, where he does battle with Satan.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
